Overview

Stylish, safe, and affordable, the 2017 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is the fuel-conserving counterpart of the regular Sonata sedan. With the same smooth ride, spacious and comfortable interior, and well-equipped tech and safety features, the Sonata Hybrid packs a powerful punch while keeping its footprint light. Standard features include a high-resolution 7-inch touchscreen display, LED daytime running lights, Bluetooth® connectivity, Blue Link® telematics and emergency communications, and a six-speaker audio system.

Features that are new for the 2017 model include standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, HD Radio®, and an improved touchscreen display. The Sonata Hybrid delivers impressive value with a starting price of $26,000.1

The Perfect Ride for…

Those who are looking for a well-rounded and affordable hybrid sedan. If you appreciate room to move in your vehicle, you'll enjoy the 119.4 cubic feet of total interior volume of the 2017 Sonata Hybrid. Opt for the available 60/40-split fold-down rear seatback to give you the added flexibility of carrying passengers; cargo; or large, bulky items. Choose either the base SE or Limited trim level, and enjoy the specific features associated with each one.

Drive & Handling

The 2017 Sonata Hybrid comes equipped with a 2.0-liter Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine paired with a lithium-ion polymer battery. This powertrain helps the Sonata Hybrid achieve an EPA-estimated 42 mpg combined (39 city/45 highway) on the base SE model,2 which is wonderful news to all the budget-conscious (and environmentally-minded) buyers out there. The slightly heavier Limited model gets a 40 mpg combined rating (38 mpg city/ 43 mpg highway),2 which is still impressive in our book.

Key Features

Blue Link® Connection

The Sonata Hybrid is built to serve the needs of busy drivers on the go, starting with the latest version of Hyundai's intuitive infotainment system. Providing additional safety, security, and connection convenience, Blue Link® allows you to access its suite of features through your smartphone, smartwatch, web application, or in-car system. Locking your car remotely, locating a nearby gas station or coffee shop, and calling for help in an emergency has never been easier than with Hyundai's Blue Link®.

Updated Audio Systems

Let the 2017 Sonata Hybrid's standard 7-inch color touchscreen audio system transport you to another realm on every drive you take. Enjoy the convenience of having Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ right at your fingertips, along with HD Radio®, SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, and Hyundai Blue Link®. You can also opt for the available 8-inch touchscreen navigation with 400-watt Infinity® premium audio. This system features everything the 7-inch system does, with the added SiriusXM® Travel Link and built-in smartphone USB and auxiliary input jacks.

Alternative Options

If you're looking for a hybrid that packs just a little bit more power, consider the 2017 Ioniq Hybrid. This marathoner can achieve up to a 690-mile range3 (based on the Ioniq Blue Model). Its design sets this innovative hatchback apart from other hybrids, and its smooth handling and well-stocked suite of features make this a vehicle worth driving. Alternatively, you can check out the 2017 Elantra GT if you're looking for a more compact ride.
