Overview

Even a decade ago, buying a compact car meant settling for a spartan economy model. But now compact cars have the same styling, technology, and features of larger models, and Hyundai offers more than merely affordable transportation. The 2019 Hyundai Elantra shows just how far the compact sedan segment and Hyundai itself have both come.

The Perfect Ride for...

Drivers looking for a compact car with modern exterior styling that extends to a clean interior. The polished 2019 Elantra rivals any of the competition's offerings, and its attractive looks, fuel efficiency, and plentiful options make it a high-value choice. Apart from the base SE, every Elantra has a fantastic infotainment system that's compatible with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. There are a host of other optional features available as well, which only bolster the claim that the Hyundai Elantra is an agreeable compact with its sights set on the top of its class. The 2019 Hyundai Elantra starts at just $17,100.*

Drive & Handling

Hyundai offers two different powertrain options on the new Elantra, both emphasizing efficiency without sacrificing fun.

Standard equipment on the SE, SEL, Value Edition, and Limited is a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, while its Eco model uses a 1.4-liter turbocharged GDI to produce 128 horsepower. Equipped with a standard 4-cylinder engine, the SE trim receives an estimated 29 city/38 hwy mpg** fuel economy, and the SEL and Value Edition both earn 28 city/37 hwy mpg.** If you prefer a more controlled, responsive driving experience, you should opt for the Eco model. It receives a 1.4-liter turbocharged GDI 4-cylinder that delivers 128 horsepower and an EPA-estimated 32 city/40 hwy.**

All 2019 Elantra models are also equipped with the Drive Mode Select feature (pictured below), which allows drivers to choose from Eco, Normal, or Sport modes with the push of a button. Each alters multiple driving and handling characteristics to provide optimal performance for different needs.

Key Features

Blue Link® Connected Care and Remote Package

Hyundai believes that you can't put a price on convenience. That's why the automaker is offering complimentary Blue Link® services for three years. With just a few touches in the app or by saying, "Alexa, start my Hyundai," you'll be able to enjoy the fruits of this exciting technology. Depending on the trim level you select, Blue Link® capabilities may include remote start with climate control, remote door lock and unlock, on-demand diagnostics and alerts, remote car finder, and so much more. You'll experience how Hyundai defines customer care: with utmost convenience.

A Plethora of Safety Features

As technology has advanced, more and more cars are receiving advanced driver-assistance features to make life easier and safer. That can be said for the new 2019 Elantra as well. Packed with nearly all of the latest active safety and driver-assistance features, the Elantra scored well in crash-test ratings and critical reviews. Its top-tiered trim, the Limited (which comes with automated emergency braking and lane-departure warning), received a perfect score from the IIHS. Whatever model you choose, you can rest assured that you're receiving the latest in safety and driver-assistance technologies, including blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, and much more.

Alternative Options

In addition to the new Elantra, Hyundai boasts a number of other options to meet different price points and driving needs. Hyundai's Sonata is a great option for drivers looking for a full-size sedan. Longer with a wider stance, the Sonata is an amalgamation of style, comfort, and utility. If you're looking for something a little different, atypical even, you should take a look at the new Hyundai Kona, which offers the road manners of a coupe without sacrificing the space and utility.
