Overview
Last year, Hyundai upgraded the Sonata from front to back, adding refreshed styling, an eight-speed automatic transmission (instead of the previous six-speed), a tweaked suspension system, new USB ports, extra navigation features, and more. No matter what you're looking for in a new family sedan, you're bound to find it in the 2019 Sonata. The Hyundai Sonata has always been a popular choice for buyers looking for a stylish, comfortable, and powerful sedan, and the 2019 model continues the trend. Not only does the new model year offer a powerful yet efficient ride, it's also a spacious and comfortable sedan that flirts with luxury levels of equipment and provides plenty of cargo space.
The Perfect Ride for…
Drivers who need a versatile midsize sedan that delivers on value, versatility, and convenience, not to mention style. Arresting design touches abound—the car's sculpted hood, "cascading" grille, and narrower headlights all distinguish the Sonata from your average boring sedan. The Sonata also comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen (with a larger upgrade available), Blue Link® infotainment, and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone functionality. The Sonata is available in five trims and starts at $22,300.*
Drive & Handling
Hyundai gives you plenty of options when it comes to the 2019 Sonata. In addition to the base SE, the newest Sonata will be available in four different trims: SEL, Sport, Limited, and Limited 2.0T. The first four levels are powered by a 2.4-liter I4 engine, which delivers a capable 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. Of course, if you like your engines turbocharged, upgrade to the Limited 2.0T trim level, which boasts a turbocharged engine capable of pushing horsepower to 245.
That performance doesn’t come at the expense of fuel economy, either. The Sonata is as efficient as it is sporty, serving up 29 mpg combined (26 city/35 hwy) in its base form.**
Key Features
Infinity® Premium Audio System
Available in the Limited 2.0T trim, this 400-watt audio system delivers crystal-clear sound throughout your vehicle, transforming every drive into a trip to the concert hall. Stream music from your Bluetooth®-equipped phone, or connect your smartphone for access to your entire music library at your fingertips.
Hyundai Blue Link®
This digital security system allows users to lock their doors remotely, call for help in emergency situations, and ensure that the car's systems are functioning properly. It also provides parents with information about their teenager's driving habits, all from the convenience of a paired smart device.
Alternative Options
The redesigned Hyundai Elantra is also another great option for compact shoppers. The Elantra offers considerable comfort, space, and style for an affordable price. Buyers in need of a little more versatility should consider the Hyundai Kona. The first-ever compact crossover from Hyundai, the Kona, offers everything for everyone, and it looks great doing it.
