2022 Hyundai Elantra

Overview
Completely redesigned for 2021, the Hyundai Elantra is ready to dive in headfirst to the crowded compact sedan market with a vehicle that makes a strong first impression. Although technically still a compact sedan, the Elantra boasts a longer wheelbase for 2021 that results in more cabin space for the driver and passengers, particularly in the rear seats which now boast class-leading space. On the outside, the Elantra features a strong design theme with a bold chrome grille, modern headlights, and more aggressive side paneling that give the sedan a sporty look. Once inside, the driver and occupants are treated to a vehicle featuring an array of technology features and luxury conveniences that are often only found on significantly pricier vehicles.
The Perfect Ride For...
The trendy professional who seeks a vehicle offering refinement, luxury, and sportiness in an affordable package. Similar to the interiors of luxury sedans that are thousands of dollars more, the Elantra features an option for a dual two-screen display that is unheard of in the compact vehicle sector. Stretching across the driver's line of sight, one 10.25-inch screen displays vehicle information like fuel economy and speed while the second continuous stretches into the infotainment area. Additionally, the 2021 Elantra features a myriad of technology features like safety features including forward-collision warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams. The Elantra also has Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ for seamless integration with your compatible smartphone.
Drive and Handling
For 2021, the base Elantra is paired to the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder found in the 2020 sedan. Making 147 horsepower, the Elantra certainly won't blow other vehicles out of the water in a race, but it offers ample power for commuting or everyday driving. This engine is paired to an IVT or intelligent variable transmission. Although details haven't yet been confirmed, Hyundai is planning to release an N-Line version of the Elantra that features a turbocharged engine and a manual transmission that should appeal to buyers that want a sportier driving experience. Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control System (TCS), and Hillstart Assist Control (HAC) work together to provide excellent handling while mitigating understeer and oversteer in slippery conditions.
Key Features
New for 2021 is Hyundai's innovative digital key. Now, your phone can act as a car key in case you leave your keys at home or can't access them from your purse or bag. Simply connect your phone to the Hyundai app and you can easily unlock your Elantra's doors and start the engine from the comfort of your phone. Additionally, all Elantras are equipped with the Hyundai SmartSense suite of driver assistance features. Designed to enhance your safety while operating the vehicle, features include automatic high beam assistance which automatically turns your high beams off when oncoming traffic is detected. Lane departure assistance can actively work by turning the wheel slightly to help you avoid unintentionally leaving your lane.
Alternative Options
If you need more space, crave more luxury, or both, the new Sonata might be a better fit. This midsized sedan still gets amazing fuel economy and up to 290 horsepower. For drivers who need a little more versatility, the 2021 Santa Fe has seating for up to five and available all-wheel-drive for families who aren't limited by the pavement.
