MileOneCares Educates Teens on Distracted Driving

In recognition of Distracted Driving Awareness Month in April, MileOneCares in partnership with DRIVE SMART Virginia, visited Pikesville High School & Catonsville High School with the non-profit’s distracted driving program to educate students on the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.

Students cycled through several informational stations throughout their DRIVE SMART sessions including a virtual reality texting and driving simulator, impaired driving cart course, a traffic stop demonstration and an interactive quiz where they answered questions about responsible car ownership and competed to win prizes. They were also asked to sign a "buckle up, phone down" pledge alongside their classmates as they head into prom and graduation season.

"We are approaching the most dangerous time of year for teen drivers, which is why it's more important than ever to invest in organizations like DRIVE SMART that are dedicated to comprehensive education programming around distracted driving," said our Chief Giving Officer, Amanda Kodeck. "In partnership with DRIVE SMART, MileOne is excited to bring these important safety initiatives to the Baltimore community."

We’re honored to have the opportunity to host these events across the mid-Atlantic region and look forward to bringing this program to even more students in the future. This vital distracted driving education is just one of the many ways MileOne is committed to providing access to safe transportation to those in our local communities.
